Candiellen Josephin Peränen kertoo:“Pli is our most famous vineyard (0,83 ha, planted in 2006) and maybe one of the oldest single vineyards in this area. It is located south west facing and has long old dry stone walls. Soil is pure galestro, so marl flint which gives the wines amazing ageing capacities. Pli is planted with Sangiovese vines only in a quinconce system (10.000 vines per ha) so each vine has exactly a meter of distance to each other. It is a high-density vineyard – each vine has its own pole for canopy management. All work is done manually because of this planting system since a tractor cannot enter the vineyard. Vinification/Maceration in open top  steel vat fermentors, Ageing: 36 months in barrique (228l). Only 5 barrels made.”

93/100p Vinous: The 2014 Chianti Classico PLI emerges from a high-density vineyard below Fontodi´s Vigna del Sorbo. A rich, potent wine, the PLI offers notable depth and tons of textural intensity. Dark cherry, spice , leather, menthol and dried flowers all meld together with vibrant acids that extend the finish while adding brightness. This is such a beautiful and expressive wine.
