Barbaresco Pajoré 2019

96/100p Decanter Magazine: A wine completely focused on floral characters such as rose and violet, enhanced by rhubarb and dried cherry. The tight palate with filigreed structure is impressively woven between crisp freshness and chalky tannins. Clean, super-tense and youthful, it’s not quite ready to drink yet. Matured for about 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, then in concrete vats for 6-9 months before bottling.

With fruit from the village of Treiso, the Rizzi 2019 Barbaresco Rizzi is austere and compact with a rich display of dark cherry and currant. Pretty layers of spice and leather fill in at the back, giving this wine a stronger sense of power and momentum. This vintage came out very nicely..

94+/100p The Wine Advocate: With Enrico Dellapiana’s artwork on the front label, the 2016 Barbaresco Rizzi Riserva Vigna Boito shows impressive depth and character. The wine comes out roaring with fresh acidity and all sorts of currants and wild berries. There is some nice minerality too. This wine is the symbolic future of this estate—tight, sharp and focused—and at this point, it is almost ready to enjoy. Maybe give it just another few years.
