Candialle Chianti Classico Riserva 2014

This is Candialle´s wonderful, long-ripened Reserve, 100% Sangiovese. The wine was then aged for 18 months in oak casks and 6 months in concrete tanks. The flavors include leather, ripe cherry, plum, balsamic, and mint. The taste is sophisticated, multi-dimensional, spicy and quite silky. The wine is in perfect condition right now. Great wine for cheese, mushroom crackers or lamb ribs with garlic and thyme. 91/100p Vinous: The 2014 Chianti Classico Riserva is laced with hints of cedar, tobacco and dried leaves. There is good depth and density in the glass but also a bit more oak influence than seen in more recent vintages. Even so, the Riserva is a fine effort in a challenging year.
